Author Guidelines

Author Guideline

MEDIA TEKNIK SIPIL Journal is published by the Department of Civil Engineering Faculty of Engineering University of Muhammadiyah Malang. It is periodically published in February and August. MEDIA TEKNIK SIPIL Journal is a venue for practitioners, researchers, academics, observers to publish the results of scientific research in the field of civil engineering covering the structure, construction management, water management, transportation, geotechnical and environmental.All papers submitted to the journal must be written in good English or Indonesian. Authors for whom English is not their native language are encouraged to have their paper checked before submission for grammar and clarity. The work should not have been published or submitted for publication elsewhere.  

1. General Author Guidelines 

All manuscripts must be submitted to Media Teknik Sipil Editorial Office using Online Submission at E-Journal portal address: 

http://ejournal.umm.ac.id/index.php/jmts/about/submissions#onlineSubmissions

where author register as Author by online. If authors have any problems on the online submission, please contact Editorial Office at the following email: jurnal.mediatekniksipil.umm@gmail.com

Three types of manuscripts are acceptable for publication: Original Research Articles, Short Communication, and Review Articles (not preferable, based on invitation).

2. Manuscript Template

3. Reviewing of manuscripts

Every submitted paper is independently reviewed by at least one peer-reviewers. The decision for publication, amendment, or rejection is based upon their reports/recommendation and made by Editor. If two or more reviewers consider a manuscript unsuitable for publication in this journal, a statement explaining the basis for the decision will be sent to the authors within three months of the submission date.

4. Revision of manuscripts

Manuscripts sent back to the authors for revision should be returned to the editor without delay. Revised manuscripts can be sent to editorial office through the Online Submission Interface (http://ejournal.umm.ac.id/index.php/jmts/index). The revised manuscripts returned later than three months will be considered as new submissions.

6. Guideline for Online Submission

Author should first register as Author and is offered as Reviewer through the following address: http://ejournal.umm.ac.id/index.php/jmts/about/submissions#onlineSubmissions

The author should fulfill the form as detail as possible where the star marked form must be entered. After all form textbox was filled, Author clicks on “Register” button to proceed the registration. Therefore, Author is brought to online author submission interface where Author should click on “New Submission”. In the Start a New Submission section, click on “’Click Here’: to go to step one of the five-step submission process”. The following are five steps in online submission process:

1.     Step 1 - Starting the Submission: Select the appropriate section of the journal, i.e. Original Research Articles, Review Article, or Short Communication. Thus, the author must check-mark on the submission checklists. An author should type or copy-paste Covering Letter in Letter to Editor.

2.     Step 2 – Uploading the Submission: To upload a manuscript to this journal, click Browse on the Upload submission file item and choose the manuscript document file (.doc/.docx) to be submitted, then click "Upload" button until the file has been uploaded. Do not upload cover letter and other supplementary files here.

3.     Step 3 – Entering Submission’s Metadata: In this step, detail authors metadata should be entered including marked corresponding author. After that, manuscript title and abstract must be uploaded by copying the text and paste in the textbox including keywords.

4.     Step 4 – Uploading Supplementary Files: Supplementary file should be uploaded including Covering/Submission Letter, and Signed Copyright Transfer Agreement Form. Therefore, click on Browse button, choose the files, and then click on Upload button.

5.     Step 5 – Confirming the Submission:  Author should final check the uploaded manuscript documents in this step. To submit the manuscript to BCREC journal, click Finish Submission button after the documents are true. The corresponding author or the principal contact will receive an acknowledgment by email and will be able to view the submission’s progress through the editorial process by logging in to the journal web address site. 

After this submission, Authors who submit the manuscript will get a confirmation email about the submission. Therefore, Authors are able to track their submission status at any time by logging in to the online submission interface. The submission tracking includes a status of manuscript review and editorial process.

7. Author Fee (No Page Charge)

This journal charges the following author fees.

Article Submission: 0.00 (IDR)
Authors are not required to pay an Article Submission Fee as part of the submission process to contribute to review costs.

Hardcopy / Printed version: 500.000 (IDR)

If your manuscript is accepted for publication, you must pay an Article print.

9. Manuscript Preparation Guidelines

MANUSCRIPT FORMAT

Manuscript should be uploaded to Media Teknik Sipil system and arranged in Media Teknik Sipil standard format, Title, Authors, Address and Email, Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Methods, Result and Discussion, Conclusion, Acknowledgment and References. Typed at one side of white paper of A4 size, in double column, 1 space line, 11 point Times New Roman font and should be given line numbers. Margins for top and bottom are 3 cm, for left and right are 2,5 cm.

 

MANUSCRIPT TITLE

A Title Is Fewest Possible Words, Accurately Describe The Content (Maximum 15 Word, Times New Roman 12, Bold, Don’t Abbreviation)

AUTHORS

Manuscript has main author and co authors with full name of the author and co-authors (no abbreviation), includes address (es) and email addresses clearly.

ABSTRACT

The Abstract is written in English and Indonesian which contains the main issues, research objectives, methods / approaches and research results. Abstract is written in one paragraph, no more than 200 words. (Times New Roman 10, single space, and italics).

 KEYWORDS

The keywords should be avoiding general and plural terms and multiple concepts. Do not use words or terms in the title as keywords. These keywords will be used for indexing purposes. Keywords should not more than 5 words or phrases in alphabetical order and separated by commas. (Times New Roman 10, single space, and italics).

 INTRODUCTION

Introduction includes background on issues or problems with urgency and rationalization of activities (research or devotion). The objectives and activity of problem-solving plan are presented in this section. A relevant references and hypothesis development (if any) are included in this section. (Times New Roman, 11, normal). 

RESEARCH METHODS

The research method describes the design of activities, scope or objects, materials and main tools, places, data collection techniques, operational definitions of research variables, and analytical techniques. (Times New Roman, 11, normal).

The letters in the flowchart use Times New Roman 10. Explanation of study stages or other descriptions that require sequences do not use numerical sequences but use bullets (●).

RESULTS AND DISCUSSION

This section presents the results of the study. The results can be completed with tables, graphs (drawings), and / or charts. The discussion section explaining about results of data processing, logically interprets the findings, relates them to the relevant references source. (Times New Roman, 11, normal). Unit of measurement used should follow the prevailing international system. All figures and tables placed separately at the end of  manuscript pages and should be active and editable by editor.

Table width max 8,5 cm and position adjusted with the previous text. (Times New Roman, 11, normal). Maximum graphic image 8,5 cm created in Microsoft excel program. Numbers and letters using Times New Roman 10. Header picture is included in the order of the drawings.

CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATIONS

Conclusion

The conclusion contains a brief summary of the results of research and discussion. [Times New Roman, 11, normal].

Recommendations

Recommendation is about new things or opinions from authors about research. [Times New Roman, 11, normal]. 

REFERENCES

The main references are international journals and proceeding. All references should be to the most pertinent and up-to-date sources. References written using system name, year, title of book / journal. City publish: publisher. References arranged alphabetically, single space and written using Times New Roman, 11, normal. Please use a consistent format for references.

The authors must refer to Media Teknik Sipil Journal for writing format and style This will ensure fast processing and publication. Any papers not fulfilling the requirements based on the guideline to authors will not be processed.

 

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is in Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  4. The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
