Focus and Scope

Progresiva: Journal of Islamic Thought and Education. This journal is concentrated on various topics of Islamic thought and education, both those that study the classical Islamic discourse and contemporary themes. Thus, this journal is very open to receive scientific articles that discuss various developments in contemporary Islam, for example, Islam and the state; democracy, human rights, terrorism, religious radicalism, and topics related to millennial Muslims and social media.

Meanwhile, in the aspect of Islamic education, this journal has an interest in topics such as Islamic collage studies (pesantren), madrasa, Islamic education outside school, learning methods, religious education curriculum and others. Therefore, for you scholars, researchers, activists and anyone who has an interest in studying in various areas of expertise, we invite you to send scientific articles to this journal.

Peer Review Process

Research papers, articles, article reviews and book reviews published in PROGRESIVA undergo double-blind review.

Although all papers reviewed by two experts (editors and/or members of the International Editorial Boars), the decision of publication will be undertaken by the editor in-chief based on reviewers’ considerations.  

Members of the International Editorial Boards also have contributed to give recommendation, advice and guidance to the editor in-chief which are greatly important in order to make decision.

Managing editors have provided the administrative support especially to ensure the managerial process of the papers from-and-to authors, editors and reviewers. They also have confirmed that all papers should be free from any issues of academic integrity (eg. plagiarism).


Publication Frequency

PROGRESIVA: Journal of Islamic Thought and Education is a biannually published journal in January-June and July-December.


Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

Due to this journal is open access, it means that all content is freely available without charge to users or institutions.
