The problem in Indonesia is related to sex education, namely that parents still feel reluctant to discuss sexual topics with early teens. <strong>Objectives</strong>: This study examines to identify parents' perceptions about sex education for early adolescents in elementary schools in the Hegarmanah Village area, Jatinangor District, Sumedang Regency. <strong>Methods</strong>: This study was a descriptive quantitative study with a survey approach via questionnaires to parents of students in grades 4-6 at elementary schools in Hegarmanah Village (n=371). The sample was taken using stratified random sampling with as many as 213 respondents. Data collection used a perception questionnaire of sex education for school-age children and data analysis used univariate analysis. <strong>Results</strong>: The research results showed that the majority of respondents had a negative perception of sex education in their early teens (51.2%), while the remainder had a positive perception of sex education in their early teens (48.8%). <strong>Conclusions</strong>: The majority of parents of students in grades 4-6 in elementary schools in the Hegarmanah Village area have a bad perception of sex education. However, prolonged bed rest in the ICU can have negative impacts on patients, one of which is changes in the patient's hemodynamics. Progressive mobilization has the potential to affect hemodynamic status and has received significant attention in the critical care setting. <strong>Objectives: </strong>This study aims to determine the effect of progressive mobilization level I on the hemodynamic status of stroke patients in ICU at Bintan Regional Hospital. <strong>Methods: </strong>The research design was a non-equivalent control group design. The sample size was 32 stroke patient respondents consisting of 16 intervention groups and 16 control groups, with a purposive sampling technique. Measurements were made using observation sheets to assess hemodynamic status before and after progressive mobilization. <strong>Results: </strong> The results of the bivariate analysis using the Paired T-Test showed that there was a difference in the average heart rate (p=0.000), systolic blood pressure (p=0.003), diastolic blood pressure (p=0.000), respiratory rate (p=0.000), and oxygen saturation (SaO2) (p= 0.001) between before and after progressive mobilization level I. The results of the Independent-T-Test showed that there was an effect of progressive mobilization level I on the hemodynamic status of ICU patients (p= 0.000 for each hemodynamic). There was an increase in hemodynamic status within the normal range after progressive mobilization. <strong>Conclusions:</strong> The results of this study can be a recommendation for nurses to carry out progressive mobilization level I by paying attention to the hemodynamic status of critical patients, especially for stroke patients to improve quality of life.</em></p> Utari Yunie Atrie Linda Widiastuti Yusnaini Siagian Liza Wati Zakiah Rahman Copyright (c) 2024 Utari Yunie Atrie, Linda Widiastuti , Yusnaini Siagian, Liza Wati https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 2024-07-31 2024-07-31 15 02 10.22219/jk.v15i02.34882 Nurses’ roles in continuity of care implementation for coronary artery bypass graft patients https://ejournal.umm.ac.id/index.php/keperawatan/article/view/30588 <p><em><strong>Introduction</strong>: The roles of nurses in implementing continuing care in Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG) patients have an essential part in improving patients' quality of life. <strong>Objectives</strong>: This study aims to determine nurses's roles in continuity of care implementation for CABG patients. <strong>Methods</strong>: This study employed a descriptive research design. The sample of this study was all nurses working at the CABG wards at the Arifin Achmad Hospital, who were selected using a total sampling technique. The variables measured in this study are the role of nurses, including caregivers, communicators, educators, client advocates, and counsellors. Data were collected using a questionnaire developed by the researcher that had been tested before use. The data analysis used is descriptive analysis, which presents the percentage of variables measured. <strong>Results</strong>: Demography characteristics from 37 nurses depict the majority of respondents in the age range of 36-45 years (45.4%), with the majority of women (81.1%), most nurses' education background is registered nurse (56.8%), and the majority of work experience is ≥ 12 years (64.9%). This study's findings showed the role of nurses as good caregivers (56.8%), good communicators (75.5%), good educators (67.6%), good client advocacy (73%), and good counsellors (51.4%). <strong>Conclusions</strong>: It can be concluded that most nurses perform an adequate role in implementing continuity of care in CABG patients. Stroke is the second cause of death and the third cause of disability in the world. Stroke requires quick treatment to minimize disability and death. The impact that results if stroke treatment is delayed is that it can result in permanent disability and death. <strong> Objectives: </strong>The aim of this research is to determine the relationship between response time and successful treatment of oncall stroke patients at PSC 119 Depok in 2023. <strong> Methods: </strong>The research method that will be used is an analytical research design with a correlational cross-sectional approach, population of 80 respondents, total sample technique and sample size of 30 respondents. Red onion, which possesses antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties, has garnered attention as an alternative therapy for managing fever. <strong>Objectives</strong>: This study aims to evaluate the effect of red onion administration in reducing fever in children, as well as to ensure its efficacy and safety. <strong>Methods</strong>: A controlled randomized clinical trial design was employed, involving children with mild to moderate fever. The treatment group received red onion, while the control group received a placebo. Body temperature measurements and fever symptoms were periodically assessed. <strong>Results:</strong> The study findings indicate that red onion administration significantly reduces body temperature and accelerates the recovery of fever symptoms in children, without significant adverse effects associated with its use. <strong>Conclusions:</strong> Red onion administration in children proves to be effective in safely reducing fever. These findings provide a strong basis for considering the use of red onion as an effective adjunct therapy in managing fever in children. Nurses’ knowledge about continuity of care is essential to ensure that continuity of care occurs consistently. <strong>Objectives</strong>: This study aims to determine nurses’ knowledge about continuity of care. <strong>Methods</strong>: This study used a descriptive research design. The study sample comprised 95 nurses in the medical and surgical inpatient room of Arifin Achmad Hospital, who were selected using the total sampling technique. The study variables include nurses’ knowledge about continuity of care measured using a questionnaire developed by the researcher and used after validity testing. The data analysis employed for this study was descriptive analysis, which represents data in frequency and percentage. <strong>Results</strong>: The findings of this study depict that respondents' age mainly was at 19-44 years (87,4%), most of the respondents were female (78,9%), most with a diploma of nursing education background (50,5%), working experience more than 12 years (51,6%), and the majority of respondents had sufficient knowledge about continuity of care (68,4%). <strong>Conclusions</strong>: Nurses' knowledge of continuing care found in this study is adequate. These findings provide an overview of nurses' potential contribution and readiness to implement continuity of care to reduce the readmission rate. In this context, the role of peer educators and counselors, who are part of the adolescents' immediate environment, is crucial as it greatly influences their knowledge and attitudes toward quitting smoking. <strong>Objectives</strong>: This study aims to determine the effect of peer educators and counselors on adolescents' knowledge and attitudes towards smoking cessation. <strong>Methods</strong>: A quantitative pre-experimental design was employed using a one-group pre-test post-test approach. The research was conducted at a boarding school in Jambi, with a total sampling technique involving 89 male adolescent smokers aged 15-18 years. Bivariate analysis was performed using the non-parametric Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test with a significance level of 5% (0.05), and multivariate analysis was conducted using ordinal regression to assess the influence of confounding factors (age, economic status, psychological state, peers, and family) on adolescents' knowledge and attitudes towards smoking cessation. <strong>Results</strong>: The results indicated significant differences in adolescents' knowledge and attitudes towards smoking cessation before and after the intervention, with a p-value of 0.000 (p &lt; 0.05). The confounding factors of age, economic status, and family had the most significant influence on adolescents' knowledge, while age, economic status, and peers had the most significant influence on adolescents' attitudes towards smoking cessation. <strong>Conclusions</strong>: Peer educators and counselors are effective in supporting adolescent efforts to quit smoking. As role models and health advocates, they help adolescents shift their focus away from smoking and increase their curiosity about smoking cessation through continuous counseling and the Upaya Berhenti Merokok (UBM) program, utilizing information media to enhance adolescent knowledge.</em></p> Exsos Grend Dais Titin Sutini Nyimas Heni Purwati Triana Srisantyorini Copyright (c) 2024 Exsos Grend Dais, Titin Sutini, Nyimas Heni Purwati, Triana Srisantyorini https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 2024-07-31 2024-07-31 15 02 10.22219/jk.v15i02.33013 The Effect of a nurse's home visit intervention on knowledge, dietary salt adherence, and blood pressure in hypertensive patients at primary health care https://ejournal.umm.ac.id/index.php/keperawatan/article/view/25376 <p><em><strong>Introduction</strong>: Home visits are a primary health care program targeting families with chronic health problems to promote healthy behavior changes and improve the quality of life of patients. <strong>Objectives</strong>: This study aims to determine the effect of nurse home visit interventions on knowledge, dietary salt adherence, and blood pressure in hypertensive patients at the Primary Health Care (Puskesmas) in Dau District. <strong>Methods</strong>: This quantitative research uses a quasi-experimental method with a one-group pre-test post-test design. The sample consisted of 69 individuals from Kunci and Princi hamlets who suffered from hypertension. The sampling technique was purposive sampling with inclusion criteria including families with hypertension, living with family members, being able to read and write, and willing to participate as respondents. The home-visit interventions were conducted over 7 weeks and included counseling on hypertension concepts, diet, medication, physical activity, and stress management, along with ongoing monitoring during the home-visit period. <strong>Results</strong>: Statistical test results on the knowledge variable using the paired t-test showed a significance of 0.01, indicating a significant change post-intervention. The dietary salt adherence variable, assessed using the Wilcoxon rank test, showed an average increase of 24.00 from pre-intervention to post-intervention. Both systolic and diastolic blood pressure variables exhibited significant changes, with a 2-tailed significance of 0.01. <strong>Conclusions</strong>: The results of this study conclude that nurse home-visit interventions have a positive effect on knowledge, dietary salt adherence, and blood pressure in hypertensive patients.</em></p> setyoadi setyoadi Sari D. Failure in communication will reduce cooperation, which will impact the quality of service, especially in the operating room. <strong>Objectives</strong>: The aim of this research is to prove the effect of interpersonal relationship communication training according to Peplau's theory on nursing team collaboration in the operating room of the Haji Hospital, East Java Province. <strong>Methods</strong>: The quasi-experimental research method uses a pre-test-post-test control group design. The independent variable is interpersonal communication training. The dependent variable is the collaboration of the nursing team in the operating room. Data analysis using Wilcoxon and Mann-Whitney tests. The sample consisted of 25 nurses, with 13 in the treatment group and 12 in the control group. <strong>Results</strong>: The results of the Wilcoxon signed rank test for the treatment group were p = 0.002 ≤  = 0.05. There was a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test results in the treatment group. In the control group, the Wilcoxon test obtained p = 1.00 ≥  = 0.05, meaning there was no difference between the pre-test and post-test results. In the Mann-Whitney U test post-test for the treatment and control groups, the p value was 0.004 ≤ = 0.05, indicating that there is an influence of interpersonal relationship communication training on nursing team collaboration. <strong>Conclusion</strong>: Nurses' interpersonal communication in the operating room is very important to improve teamwork. Most family caregivers have insufficient knowledge and abilities, where family caregivers need support and education from nurses in providing education to family caregivers while they are still in the hospital. <strong>Objectives</strong>: Identifying the influence of folding booklet education on the level of knowledge of family caregivers of stroke patients at Wava Husada Kepanjen Hospital. <strong>Methods</strong>: The design used in this research was a quasi-experiment with the one group pre-test post-test design. The total sample of 30 family caregivers of stroke patients was taken using accidental sampling on February 6 - February 19 2023. The level of knowledge of family caregivers of stroke patients was measured using a stroke knowledge level questionnaire and provided education using a folding booklet. <strong>Results</strong>: The majority of respondents were aged 36-45 years (36.7%), female (70.0%), high school (50.0%), working (56.7%), no care experience (90.0%). Before being given foldlet (folding booklet) education, the majority of respondents had a good level of knowledge (43.3%), after being given foldlet (folding booklet) education, respondents with good knowledge increased (90.0%). The purpose of this study is to evaluate how well push bikes and two- and three-wheeled pedal bicycles improve preschoolers' motor skills, including balance, agility, and leg muscle strength. <strong>Objectives</strong>: To determine how different push bikes and pedal bicycles—both two- and three-wheeled—affect preschoolers' ability to develop their motor skills. <strong>Methods</strong>: Preschoolers who participated in this study were split into three groups according to the kind of bicycle they rode: push bikes, two-wheeled pedal bicycles, and three-wheeled pedal bicycles. The study used an observational method. For a predetermined amount of time, each group used their individual bicycles for activities. Direct observation, balance, agility, and leg muscle strength assessments were all used to gather data. <strong>Results</strong>: Compared to children who rode two- and three-wheeled pedal bicycles, children who rode push bikes exhibited significantly improved balance, agility, and leg muscular strength. It has been demonstrated that push bikes are more successful in helping preschoolers develop their motor skills. <strong>Conclusions</strong>: Push bikes are more effective at improving motor components (balance, agility, and leg muscle strength) in preschool children bicycle and tricycle.
