Sindrom cinderella complex adalah kondisi psikologis dimana perempuan mengalami ketakutan untuk mandiri dan
cenderung bergantung pada oranglain, biasanya pada laki-laki. Sindrom cinderella complex ini terjadi akibat pola asuh
orangtua terutama pola asuh authoritarian (pola asuh otoriter) dimana segala keputusan perempuan ditentukan oleh
orangtua. Sindrom ini menjadikan perempuan memiliki self-esteem (harga diri) yang rendah. Penelitian ini dilakukan
pada 359 partisipan perempuan usia remaja akhir dan dewasa awal untuk melihat bagaimana pola asuh authoritarian
mempengaruhi kecenderungan sindrom cinderella complex dan pengaruhnya terhadap self-esteem. Ditemukan bahwa
pola asuh authoritarian memiliki pengaruh terhadap sindrom cinderella complex perempuan bila dimediasi self-esteem.
