Democratic parenting and future orientation of education are mediated by self-esteem

Orientasi masa depan pendidikan merupakan hal yang penting dalam menentukan karir di masa depan. Apabila tidak dikelola dengan baik, maka dapat mengakibatkan kesulitan dalam mengambil keputusan tentang apa yang akan dipilih di masa depan. Gaya pengasuhan yang diterapkan orang tua dan self-esteem memiliki peranan penting dalam membentuk orientasi masa depan pendidikan remaja. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui hubungan antara pola asuh demokratis dengan orientasi masa depan pendidikan yang dimediasi oleh self-esteem. Subjek terdiri dari 172 remaja SMA berusia 14-20 tahun dan tinggal dengan kedua orang tua. Teknik sampling yang digunakan adalah accidental sampling. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Parental Authority Questionnaire (PAQ), State Self-Esteem Scale, dan Skala Orientasi Masa Depan Pendidikan. Analisis mediasi dilakukan melalui Process Model 4 dari Hayes. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa self-esteem memediasi secara parsial hubungan antara pola asuh demokratis dengan orientasi masa depan siswa (r = 0.543).
