The family is a small social system that interacts each other. Changes that occur in one family member will affect all other members. Pathological family dynamics are not due to the characteristics of family members but rather due to faulty interaction systems and communication patterns. Indirect communication patterns and family rules that are too rigid can be a problem and disrupt harmony, especially for families with teenage children. The aim of this research is to determine the effectiveness of Solution Focused Therapy (SFT) in dealing with problems with parent and child communication patterns. The assessment methods used are interviews, observation, and the Parent-Adolescent Communication Scale (PACS). The results of the intervention showed that there were changes in communication patterns between parents and children. Initially indirect communication became more direct communication with openness and solutions in overcoming problems. Family rules that were initially too rigid become more democratic and provide space for discussion between parents and children.
