Abstract

Self-esteem is an individual’s assessment of themselves, influenced by experiences, beliefs, and mindset. Issues that
contribute to low self-esteem in adolescents include cognitive distortions that affect emotions and behavior. Adolescents
with low self-esteem tend to feel insecure, hesitate in taking action, feel that their efforts and hard work are unappreciated, and experience a decline in academic performance. This study aims to improve the self-esteem of a 12-year-old boy by changing cognitive distortions and developing positive thoughts. The assessments methods used include clinical interviews, observation, CFIT, grafis tests (DAP, BAUM, HTP) and the Rosenberg Self Esteem Scale (RSES). The intervention technique applied is cognitive restructuring therapy. The results of the intervention indicate positive changes, as the subject was able to identify negative thoughts, replace them with positive ones, apply them in daily life, show improved self-confidence, regulate emotions when receiving criticism, and demonstrate the courage to face new challenges.

Harga diri adalah penilaian individu terhadap dirinya sendiri, yang dipengaruhi oleh pengalaman, keyakinan, dan pola pikir. Masalah yang
berkontribusi pada rendahnya harga diri pada remaja meliputi distorsi kognitif yang memengaruhi emosi dan perilaku. Remaja
dengan harga diri rendah cenderung merasa tidak aman, ragu-ragu dalam bertindak, merasa bahwa usaha dan kerja keras mereka tidak dihargai, dan mengalami penurunan prestasi akademik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan harga diri seorang anak laki-laki berusia 12 tahun dengan mengubah distorsi kognitif dan mengembangkan pikiran positif. Metode penilaian yang digunakan meliputi wawancara klinis, observasi, CFIT, tes grafis (DAP, BAUM, HTP), dan Skala Harga Diri Rosenberg (RSES). Teknik intervensi yang diterapkan adalah terapi restrukturisasi kognitif. Hasil intervensi menunjukkan perubahan positif, karena subjek mampu mengidentifikasi pikiran negatif, menggantinya dengan pikiran positif, menerapkannya dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, menunjukkan peningkatan kepercayaan diri, mengatur emosi ketika menerima kritik, dan menunjukkan keberanian untuk menghadapi tantangan baru.
