Many studies have been carried out on homeschooled children’s social skills, but very little research has attempted to explore homeschooled children’s social skills from the perspective of both the homeschooling father and the homeschooling mother, especially those who are religiously minded Muslims. This paper highlighted the perspectives of religiously minded Muslim homeschooling parents on their children’s social skills. The researchers used a case study approach in a qualitative research design. A homeschooling father and a homeschooling mother were both purposefully chosen as informants. Individual interviews were conducted with both informants. To analyse the data, the researchers employed thematic analysis. Several themes emerged from the research. The findings revealed that the social skills of homeschooled children are the capacity to adapt to society, the ability to establish relationships, and the competence to manage disagreements. Moreover, the goal of social skills is to build harmony by achieving Allah's pleasure, followed by gaining people's pleasure.
Syahril Budiman Bahri, Dawood Abdulmalek Yahya Al-Hidabi, Nik Md. Their behaviour is closely scrutinized, making it crucial to emphasize positive Islamic behaviour, including antiracism efforts, to contribute to a more just society. This research explained the root of racism and equality in Islam. In addition, this research add explanation on how Islamic education has significant role as well as antiracism paedagogy through school text book. School textbooks are effective media for conveying educational messages or values to children. Besides being made as an educational medium, books are also deliberately designed to represent the ideal interests according to their creator, especially books published by the state. The content can undoubtedly describe what is suitable for each country. Through school textbooks, we can look at the state's perspective on ethnicity critically. Based on this, this study will describe the representation of an ethnic group, especially the Papuan ethnic group. This research is not only limited to the study of texts but will try to do interdiscussion with the existing social context. By using Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) this research will provide a complete picture of how the text is formed and what discourses are present in the formation of the text. The text in this study consisted of 2 related types, namely picture text and narrative text. In addition, this research is necessary because the findings will provide an overview of the content of school textbooks related to how regional representation is described. This is important to note as one of the instruments to build contemporary Indonesian identity especially in the national and Islamic education sector.
Radius Setiyawan, Maulida Maulida Copyright (c) 2024 Radius Setiyawan , Maulida Maulida https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://ejournal.umm.ac.id/index.php/progresiva/article/view/32449 Thu, 04 Apr 2024 00:00:00 +0700 Maqashid Sunnah as a Philosophical Foundation for Developing Progressive Islamic Education in the Digital Era https://ejournal.umm.ac.id/index.php/progresiva/article/view/32005
This article aims to look at the philosophy of Islamic education from the perspective of maqashid sunnah (the ultimate purpose of hadith) in the social sphere to produce progressive Islamic education in the digital era. The digital era is characterized by a very wide openness of information, causing competition in this era to be very tight, so competitive and productive human qualities are needed, and this can be produced from a progressive pattern of Islamic education. Unfortunately, Islamic education as an instrument for human development, currently focuses more on developing each student to achieve high skills and qualifications. Still, on the other hand, it can be seen that the output of this is humans who focus more on profits for themselves. It does not have much influence on people's lives, even though progress in its true meaning should be oriented towards the benefits of the wider community. For this reason, studies are needed to examine the philosophical basis of education to find solutions to the problems above. As a source of Islamic teachings, Hadith has a core purpose, maqashid sunnah. Among several maqasid sunnah, there is maqoshid riayat-al-Mujtama' or the aim of developing society, which contains values that lead to the development of society. This study will use a qualitative methodology by analyzing the values contained in the maqashid riayat-al-Mujtama and then bringing them into education to find their suitability as a basis for Progressive Islamic Education. The conclusion of this study is that maqosid riayat-al-mujtama, which contains social values in the form of freedom, helping each other in goodness, justice, equality, mutual love, and care, can be used as a philosophical basis for progressive Islamic education.
Mohammad Ridlo Masyhari, Khairil Husaini Bin Jamil Copyright (c) 2024 Mohammad Ridlo Masyhari, Khairil Husaini Bin Jamil https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://ejournal.umm.ac.id/index.php/progresiva/article/view/32005 Thu, 04 Apr 2024 00:00:00 +0700 The Education of Ulama Cadres in Muhammadiyah Islamic Boarding School Karangasem Paciran Lamongan, Indonesia https://ejournal.umm.ac.id/index.php/progresiva/article/view/30570
This research analyses the education of ulama cadres at the Muhammadiyah Islamic Boarding School, Karangasem Paciran Lamongan.
