KONSEP BARU DALAM PENANGANAN SEPSIS PADA PASIEN BEDAH: APLIKASI KLINIS BERDASARKAN ILMU PENGETAHUAN DASAR

Angka morbiditas dan mortalitas peritonitis umum sekunder yang merupakan sepsis intraabdominal masih tetap tinggi bila dilihat pada laporan-laporan baik dimancanegara ataupun di Indonesia sejak dua dekade terakhir ini. Angka kematian peritonitis yang disertai syok septik rata-rata di dunia sampai saat inipun lebih dari 60%, bila telah disertai dengan lebih dari empat gagal fungsi organ, angka kematiannya mendekati 100%. Tindakan pencegahan atau terapi suportif awal terhadap gagal fungsi organ, ternyata mampu menurunkan angka kematian. Upaya perbaikan keadaan umum dan pencegahan agar jangan terjadi septik syok dan terjadinya gagal multi-fungsi organ melalui tindakan resusitasi perioperatif yang optimal, merupakan faktor yang sangat menentukan dalam upaya memperbaiki prognosis.
