Material and Methods: The study comprised a sample of 150 patients who were scheduled to have upper limb procedures at the Department of Anaesthesia in a Tertiary Care Teaching Institute in India. A total of 150 patients were divided into three groups. Group A was administered a combination of Bupivacaine and saline, Group B received Bupivacaine along with dexmedetomidine, and Group C was given Bupivacaine in combination with fentanyl. The essential parameters of heart rate, systolic and diastolic blood pressure, and oxygen saturation were documented. Results: Both the B Group and C Group exhibited a more rapid initiation and extended duration of sensory and motor blockade, which was statistically significant (P<0.05). Group B had a longer duration of pain relief after surgery compared to Group C and Group A. Conclusion: The administration of dexmedetomidine and bupivacaine in the supraclavicular block effectively reduced the onset time of both sensory and motor blocks. Furthermore, the administration of both dexmedetomidine and bupivacaine resulted in a significant reduction of postoperative discomfort.
Dhara Darji Neha Pareek Bina Butala Sagar Sanghani Shrushti Padhiyar Copyright (c) 2024 Dhara Darji, Neha Pareek, Bina Butala, Sagar Sanghani, Shrushti Padhiyar, Pratik Akhani https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 2024-07-11 2024-07-11 20 1 1 10 10.22219/sm.Vol20.SMUMM1.33223 Validity And Reliability Of Mars-10 Questionnaire On Antipsychotic Adherence In Schizophrenia Patients https://ejournal.umm.ac.id/index.php/sainmed/article/view/33729
Non-adherence in schizophrenia treatment is still a major problem in the successful treatment of schizophrenia. MARS-10 (Medication Adherence Report Scale-10) questionnaire is a self-reported questionnaire to measure patient’s adherence which has been implemented in some disease. However, there is still no study investigated the application of MARS-10 into schizophrenia patients in Indonesia. The purpose of this study was to determine the reliability and validity of the MARS-10 questionnaire in schizophrenia cases in Indonesia. This design of this study was a prospective, descriptive quantitative analysis approach with a cross-sectional design. Thirty schizophrenia patients from Saiful Anwar Hospital Malang, Lawang Mental Hospital, and UMM Hospital were used as research samples. Determining the validity of the questionnaire using the Pearson Product Moment correlation test, the correlation coefficient value r count is greater than the r table value, which is 0.361. In determining the reliability of the questionnaire, an analysis was carried out using the Cronbach's Alpha coefficient which showed the Cronbach's Alpha coefficient of 0.742. The results of the validity and reliability tests show that the MARS-10 questionnaire that has been translated into Indonesian is valid and reliable for measuring the level of compliance of schizophrenia patients with antipsychotic treatment in Indonesia.
Nailis Syifa Irsan Fahmi Almuhtarihan Erika Zahrotul Avia Habba Uhai’atun Nisa’ Nazliza Jaza Faizun Nadifa Copyright (c) 2024 Nailis Syifa, Irsan Fahmi Almuhtarihan, Erika Zahrotul Avia Habba, Uhai’atun Nisa’ Nazliza, Jaza Faizun Nadifa https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 2024-07-12 2024-07-12 20 1 11 20 10.22219/sm.Vol20.SMUMM1.33729 The Effect Of Butterfly Pea Flower Tea On Brain Weight In Wistar Rats After D-Galactose Induction https://ejournal.umm.ac.id/index.php/sainmed/article/view/32376
Introduction: Butterfly pea flowers (Clitoria ternatea L.) currently popular in society as high-antioxidant supplement. One of the organs affected by aging is the brain. D-galactose is a compound that is widely used for induction of aging in animal studies. The aim of this study was to assess the effect of butterfly pea flower tea on changes in brain weight in mice induced by D-galactose.

Method: 24 rats were divided into four groups consisting of control, groups with 1%, 5%, and 10% butterfly pea flower tea intervention after being induced by aging for 6 weeks. The brain organs were then weighed to assess changes in each group.

Result: There was an increase in body weight but no significant differences between each group either before or after the intervention. No significant differences were found in the average brain weight of each group, with the brain weight of the P3 group being lower than that of the other intervention groups. There is a positive correlation between body weight and brain weight.

Conclusion: Although the butterfly pea flower has no statistically significant effect, at concentrations of 1% and 10% it can have an effect on brain weight after induction of aging by D-galactose.
Ernadita Budiastuti Yanasta Yudo Pratama Miranti Dewi Pramaningtyas Muhammad Luthfi Adnan Copyright (c) 2024 Ernadita Budiastuti, Yanasta Yudo Pratama, Miranti Dewi Pramaningtyas, Muhammad Luthfi Adnan https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 2024-07-12 2024-07-12 20 1 21 28 10.22219/sm.Vol20.SMUMM1.32376 Tramadol and Dexamethasone as Adjuvant to Bupivacaine in Supraclavicular Brachial Plexus Block https://ejournal.umm.ac.id/index.php/sainmed/article/view/33082
Background: To assess the effects of combining Tramadol and Dexamethasone with Bupivacaine in supraclavicular brachial plexus block for upper limb surgeries.

Material and Methods: A clinical research was performed with sixty patients who received upper limb surgery with a supraclavicular brachial plexus block. The study encompassed a total of 60 patients who were divided into two groups, with 30 patients in each group. Group D was administered a blend of Bupivacaine and Dexamethasone, whilst Group T was given a mixture of Bupivacaine and Tramadol, resulting in a combined amount of 25 ml. The study recorded the beginning and length of the sensory and motor block. We meticulously observed the hemodynamic variables throughout the research, until the administration of the first rescue analgesic.

Results: In group D, the mean time for motor block to occur was 5.10±0.92 minutes, whereas in group T, it took 7.93±0.98 minutes. Group D had an average sensory block onset time of 8.23±1.22 minutes, whereas Group T had a slightly longer average onset time of 10.97±1.22 minutes. Group D had an average motor block duration of 560.53±24.46 minutes, whereas group T had a duration of 358.93±20.85 minutes. Group D had a mean duration of sensory block of 745.17±32.81 minutes, whereas group T had a slightly shorter duration of 457.07±16.36 minutes. In group D, the average time for the first rescue analgesia was 961.50±32.94 minutes, whereas in group T, it was 524.17±16.46 minutes.

Conclusion: Inclusion of Dexamethasone led to a noticeably quicker onset of motor and sensory block in comparison to Tramadol. In a recent study, researchers discovered that when Dexamethasone was added to the mix, it had a notable impact on the duration of both motor and sensory block. The effects were significant and promising. When Dexamethasone was added, it noticeably increased the duration until the first rescue analgesia, in comparison to Tramadol.
Shrutika Ved Neel Rana Shruti Shah Ruchi Shah Ishitaben Gajipara Mrugakshi Dave Copyright (c) 2024 Shrutika Ved, Neel Rana, Shruti Shah, Ruchi Shah, Ishitaben Gajipara, Mrugakshi Dave, Pratik Akhani https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 2024-07-13 2024-07-13 20 1 29 38 10.22219/sm.Vol20.SMUMM1.33082 Description of Workforce Preparedness for Fire Management at Dinoyo Health Center https://ejournal.umm.ac.id/index.php/sainmed/article/view/33302
Background: Dinoyo Community Health Center is a health facility in Malang City that must implement fire safety.
