Abstract

One of the people of South Sulawesi cultural elements that are expressive and
sourced from intuition, feelings and fantasies are created by society Tempatan various
media in an effort to meet their needs. The media is usually associated with message
delivery attempts, both messages that are educational, a message that is entertainment,
informational messages, or messages that are criticism and escort or social control.
But of all the media designation, usually the main concern is that is linked up with
elements of entertainment or art. Even the art is in addition to an element of
entertainment in itself, can also be inserted as well with a message that relates to
elements of education, information elements, and elements of social criticism and
control. In an agrarian society, including ethnic Makassar in South Sulawesi, the
performing arts legacy media often associated with an event associated ritual or
ceremony, because society is still very trusting of a fixed rule, which can cope with
everything that happens in the world, which performed by humans. The rules are
believed to be stable, harmonious and eternal. This rule is the source of all glory
and happiness of human life, so anything done by humans must be in accordance or
harmony in their lives and not be contrary to nature. Conversely, if things appear
