“NYENTANA” SISTEM PERKAWINAN DALAM NOVEL TARIAN BUMI KARYA OKA RUSMINI

Abstrak: Novel Tarian Bumi sebagai karya sastra dengan warna lokal, karya Oka Rusmini banyak mengungkap identitas atau ciri khas daerah Bali, dengan kata lain dalam karya-karyanya banyak tercermin nilai-nilai budaya
tradisional masyarakat Bali. Salah satu nilai budaya yang tercermin dalam novel tersebut adalah sistem perkawinan nyentana. Nilai tersebutlah sedikit banyak telah memberikan sumbangan untuk keanekaragaman budaya di Indonesia. Melalui bahasa, Oka Rusmini mencoba untuk mengungkapkan budaya Bali karena bahasa mudah dipahami oleh pembaca. Oka Rusmini tetap mempertahankan penggunaan bahasa dan istilah-istilah dalam bahasa Bali agar tema cerita sesuai dengan kehidupan psikologis masyarakat Bali. Hal inilah yang menjadikan karya Oka Rusmini menonjol karena mencerminkan nilai-nilai budaya Bali. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkapkan latar belakang budaya Bali yang tercermin dalam novel Tarian Bumi, dan untuk mengetahui sistem perkawinan “Nyentana” melalui proses identifikasi unsur-unsur lokalitas melalui tokoh lakilaki dalam novel tersebut.
Kata kunci: novel, sistem perkawinan, dan laki-laki.
Abstract: Tarian Bumi novel by Oka Rusmini is one of literary work with local color. Most of Oka Rusmini’s works reveal with the local identity or characteristic of Bali, in other words, many of her works reflected the
values of traditional Balinese culture. One of the cultural values that are reflected in the novel is the mating system nyentana. That value, in a certain degree, has contributed to the cultural diversity in Indonesia. Through the language, Oka Rusmini tried to reveal Balinese culture because language is easily understood by the reader. She still considers using Balinese language and terminology in order to the theme of the story is in accordance with the psychological life of the Balinese people. So, it makes Oka Rusmini’s works become a prominent works that reflect the values of the Balinese culture. The reaserch this paper aims to reveal the Balinese culture background that reflected in Tarian Bumi novel. This paper also tried to know the marriage system of nyentana through the identification process of locality unsure through the male characters in that novel.
