Abstract:
This study used a qualitative approach with descriptive research, to describe the meaning of soft skills development through character education program in the learning system in the Vocational School. In order to embed character education to students, it requires a set of program forms, as stipulated in the Education Unit Level Curriculum, while its form: in the form of curriculum structure, curriculum content, the integration of subjects, and school culture in the learning process. Each form of the respective programs - each has a function and meaning in order to establish the character and personality of the students that lead to the development of soft skills meaning.From the data analysis, it can be said that the ability of the aspects of students' soft skills can be developed through a character education program. This can be demonstrated by student achievement and increased absorption graduates in the workforce.

Abstrak:
Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian deskriptif, untuk mendiskripsikan pemaknaan pengembangan soft skills melalui program pendidikan karakter pada sistem pembelajaran di Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan (SMK). Dalam rangka menanamkan pendidikan karakter kepada siswa diperlukan seperangkat bentuk-bentuk program, yang tertuang dalam Kurikulum Tingkat Satuan Pendidikan (KTSP), adapun wujudnya ; dalam bentuk struktur kurikulum, muatan kurikulum, pengintegrasian dalam mata pelajaran, budaya sekolah dan dalam proses pembelajaran. Setiap bentuk program tersebut masing – masing memiliki fungsi dan makna dalam rangka membentuk karakter dan kepribadian siswa yang mengarah pada pemaknaan pengembangan soft skills. Dari analisis data dapat dikatakan bahwa kemampuan aspek soft skills siswa dapat berkembang dengan baik melalui beberapa program pendidikan karakter. Hal ini dapat ditunjukkan dengan prestasi siswa dan meningkatnya keterserapan lulusan di dunia kerja.
