Abstract

The main focus of the research is how global citizenship interacts with social capital, especially elements of mutual trust and attachment to norms, in shaping the character of students amidst the impact of globalization. The research aims to understand how social capital strengthens attitudes of mutual trust and compliance with norms, as well as its contribution to the formation of adaptive and resilient students' character. A qualitative approach using the case study method was used to collect data through in-depth interviews, participant observation and document analysis at the Pondok Buntet Islamic Boarding School. Research findings show that social capital, especially beliefs and norms, plays an important role in shaping the character of students. The attitude of mutual trust between students and Islamic boarding school caregivers (trust) strengthens solidarity and social support, while compliance with Islamic boarding school norms (norms) helps students maintain moral integrity amidst the challenges of globalization. From this research, it is said to provide suggestions for Islamic boarding schools to emphasize the need to strengthen social capital to overcome the negative impacts of globalization and recommend development practices that strengthen beliefs and norms while still maintaining traditional values. Further research is recommended to explore other elements of social capital in educational contexts).

Artikel ini mengeksplorasi keterkaitan antara kewarganegaraan global dan modal sosial dalam pembentukan karakter santri di Pondok Buntet Pesantren dalam era globalisasi yang sejalan dengan era revolusi industri 4.0 dan society 5.0. Fokus utama penelitian adalah bagaimana kewarganegaraan global berinteraksi dengan modal sosial, khususnya elemen sikap saling percaya (trust) dan kelekatan terhadap norma (norms), dalam membentuk karakter santri di tengah dampak globalisasi. Penelitian bertujuan memahami bagaimana modal sosial memperkuat sikap saling percaya dan kepatuhan terhadap norma, serta kontribusinya terhadap pembentukan karakter santri yang adaptif dan resilien. Pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi partisipatif, dan analisis dokumen di Pondok Buntet Pesantren. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa modal sosial, terutama trust dan norms, memainkan peran penting dalam membentuk karakter santri. Sikap saling percaya di antara santri dan pengasuh pesantren (trust) memperkuat solidaritas dan dukungan sosial, sedangkan kepatuhan terhadap norma pesantren (norms) membantu santri menjaga integritas moral di tengah tantangan globalisasi. Dari penelitian ini, say memberikan saran agar pondok pesantren menekankan perlunya penguatan modal sosial untuk mengatasi dampak negatif globalisasi dan merekomendasikan pengembangan praktik yang memperkuat trust dan norms sambil tetap mempertahankan nilai-nilai tradisional. Penelitian lebih lanjut disarankan untuk mengeksplorasi elemen modal sosial lainnya dalam konteks pendidikan.
