ABSTRACT
Mild mental retardation with IQ 50-70 has many limitation, so it needs an exact stimulation to increase acception and abstraction to understand lessons at school. Teaching stimulation by picture is one of way to stimulate abstraction for mental retardation. The goal of this research is to know the effect of teaching stimulation by picture to learning achievement in mental retardation. The research uses quasy experimental design pretestposttest with control group. The population is the student of SDLBN/C (debil) age (6-12 years old) in Tuban regency amount 20 students become all sample population. Data analysis uses t test (for significant data), wilcoxon and Mannwhitney test (for nonsignificant data). Before doing the research gotten 100% respondent have not good achievement in both, treatment group and control group. After giving teaching stimulation by picture it is known that 70% respondent have good achievement and 30% medium. By t test and degree of trust 5% is gotten significant amount 0,001, it means result < 0,05 so it proves that there is an effect of teaching stimulation by picture to learning achievement. Necessary to have team work between teacher, parents and children in evaluating learning achievement and increasing stimulation through modification methods and media, in order to be more increasing learning achievement.
