Tobacco farmers are prone to various health problems both physically and psychologically or mentally due to several problems such as Green Tobacco Sickness (GTS), crop failure and weather anomalies. Resilience is one of the coping mechanisms that can be used to prevent psychological distress. This study used a cross-sectional study design with cluster random sampling technique, a sample of 96 respondents. The study was conducted in February-March in Kalisat District, Jember Regency. Bivariate analysis used Pearson correlation (α <0.05; CI = 95%). The instruments used were DASS-21 (α cronbach = 0.97) and Resilience Scale-14 (α cronbach = 0.87). This research has passed the research feasibility through the Health Research Ethics Commission (KEPK) of the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Jember. The results of univariate analysis showed high resilience with an average value of 71.61 (sd = 6.25; min-max = 14-98) and low psychological distress with an average value of 9.74 (sd = 7.77; min- max = 0-63). The results of bivariate analysis showed that there was a significant relationship between resilience and psychological distress with Pearson correlation values p <0,000 (α <0.05; CI = 95%). Often the respondent experiences distress due to problems in his farm making respondents more resilient in dealing with it. The results of this study are expected to help to improve occupational health services, especially for mental health for farmers through health services that are promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative with a nursing care approach in the community to a special group of agricultural workers.Downloads
