MASALAH-MASALAH DI PENJARA DALAM STUDI SOSIAL

Abstract

This article aims to explore several theoretical perspectives that can be used to conduct a study of life in prison. In this article, the prison is categorized as a total institution, that is, an institution that restricts human behavior that is physically isolated from social environment. Although the prison is an institution separated from life of normal society, in it are discovered the problems that are not much different from the life outside the prison. If in the normal community there is population density, in the prison there is exceed capacity or over capacity. Over capacity is assumed as one of the root which causes the more complex problems of the prison complex. This condition becomes one of the interests that prison is one field of study in sociology.
