Previously JIE used the CC-BY-SA license, but starting from volume 6 number 4 onwards, JIE has used the CC-BY-NC-SA license. This is because JIE allows anyone to compose, improve, and make derivative works not for commercial purposes, as long as they give credit and license the derivative works on terms similar to the original work.
