Kontekstualisasi Tafsir Perempuan (Studi Pemikiran Abdullah Saeed)

Abstract

This article describes the contextualization of Abdullah Saeed's interpretation of women in the 21st century. The interpretation of the Qur'an with a historical approach does not include contemporary needs that allow it to be an alternative contextual interpretation. Most classical commentators provide interpretations that contain patriarchal elements without considering possible specific meanings related to with gender characteristics, norms and roles. As an effort, this research was conducted with a literature approach that examined the insights, ideas and methodological principles significantly presented by Abdullah Saeed in interpreting the Qur'anic verses about women. Scientists have conducted various studies relating to the Qur'anic interpretation model, but not many studies have focused on the contextualization of women's interpretations that was initiated by Abdullah Saeed. Therefore this article is the first step to explore the issue. This article argues that the contextualization of Abdullah Saeed's interpretation of women emphasizes several methodological aspects of the interpretation of the Qur'an, namely 1) emphasis on macro contexts 2) emphasis on fairness and honesty 3) emphasis on non-patriarchal understanding 4) observing the language of texts 5) Holistic and Intra-textual.
