Alain Badiou is a philosopher who is affected by Marxism. Through mathematics, Badiou explains the social-political condition of society using the Marxism framework. According to Badiou, there is always a component which is excluded even though the component is inherent in the society itself. The component becomes excluded or alienated because it is uncounted as an element; thus, it experiences exclusion. The availability of the component could be identified through the subsets axiom, and the component is identified as an empty set. An empty set is the basis of every set but never being counted. This article tries to explain the ontology of society through Badiou’s thought which optimizes mathematics especially set theory. Several objections to Badiou’s thought are also discussed in the paper.
