Javanese and Batak are the two largest ethnic groups in Indonesia. They have pretty striking differences in the way they speak and behave. Not only that, but the values taught to their children through parenting can also be different. One of them is the value of self-control. This study aims to find out the picture of cultural values taught through parenting that contributes to influencing self-control. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach. The participants in this study were four people. They are two Javanese and two Batak. The data was obtained through interviews via google meet. The result of the study found that the values that influence the self-control of the Javanese are manners, honesty, discipline, and trust while the Batak are responsibility, religion, education, and honesty. Therefore, the influence of inherited culture on self-control can be considered in intervening.
