This study aims to examine the performativity of masculinity in direct and mediated relationships by cell phones presented in Perfect Strangers (2022). Perfect Strangers (2022), a comedy-drama genre, presents a mediated relationship that causes blurring in gender identity that affects the masculinity performativity of male characters due to the mediation of cell phones. The lunar eclipse phase in Perfect Strangers (2022) becomes a film medium to convey comedy that contains problems related to masculinity performativity. This research is analyzed using film narratology by elaborating on Connell's idea of masculinity, Judith Butler's idea of gender performativity, and Cerulo & Ruanie's idea of mediated relationships. The research will examine the cinematic presentation of the relationship between masculinity performativity in cell phone-mediated relationships in the Indonesian version of Perfect Strangers (2022). This research shows that in Perfect Strangers, gender performativity through cellular phones is depicted as causing blurring in physical or face-to-face relationships. Gender performativity which refers to the appearance and repetitive actions in face-to-face relationships in contrast to mediated relationships can be used to mask true identities including sexual identity. Non-heteronormative individuals can hide their sexual identity in mediated relationships
