TERAPI KOGNITIF PERILAKU UNTUK MENGATASI GANGGUAN KECEMASAN SOSIAL

Kecemasan sosial adalah tipe gangguan yang banyak terjadi, tetapi diagnosis jarang ditegakkan, sehingga terapi pun jarang diberikan. Individu yang mengalami kecemasan memiliki pemikiran negatif akan evaluasi orang lain, yang akibatnya menimbulkan kecemasan, sensasi fisik seperti gemetar atau keringat dingin dan perilaku menghindar atau perilaku aman. Salah satu terapi yang telah terbukti efektivitasnya untuk mengatasi kecemasan sosial adalah Terapi Kognitif Perilaku. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk melihat bagaimana Terapi Kognitif Perilaku dalam menurunkan tingkat kecemasan pada gangguan kecemasan sosial. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa yang memenuhi kriteria kecemasan sosial. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah studi kasus, yang lazim digunakan untuk uji efektivitas terapi. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa Terapi Kognitif Perilaku dapat menurunkan tingkat kecemasan pada gangguan kecemasan sosial yang dialami oleh kedua subjek, bahkan meningkatkan kepercayaan diri subjek dalam berinteraksi sosial.

Social Anxiety Disorder is a type of disorder that commonly occurs in society, but rarely diagnosed, so the therapy is almost never to be given. An individual undergoing the type of disorder has a negative interpretation of other’s evaluation on him/her by which causes anxiety, physical sensations such as trembling/shaking or sweating, and does a kind of avoidance or takes a safer behavior. One therapy that has proved its effective treatment to overcome social anxiety disorder is Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT). This research investigated how the Cognitive Behavior Therapy worked on diminishing the level of worry in social anxiety disorder. The subject of the study was college students who were appropriately required for the criteria of social anxiety. Research design used case study design which is suitable to examine the effectivity of therapy. The result showed that the Cognitive Behavior Therapy could, indeed, reduced the level of worry in social anxiety disorder underwent by the two subjects of this research, and even it might raise the subjects’ self-confidence/self-esteem in having the interaction with other people in certain social environment.
